James Rogers – Chef/Owner
A Newburyport native and longtime resident, Jim began his culinary career at Scandia restaurant and shortly after, graduated with a Culinary Degree from Newbury College in 1988. Upon graduation, Jim found himself in increasingly responsible roles at notable restaurants and resorts including Boston’s five-star L’Espalier, L’Ostello Hotel and Restaurant in Vail, and Savior Fare on Martha’s Vineyard. He went on to become VP of Operations for Joseph’s Gourmet Pasta, traveling throughout Italy and perfecting recipes for the company’s gourmet food line. From the pasta company, Jim moved on to become General Manager and Executive Chef for Michael’s Harborside Restaurant in Newburyport. He not only brought the waterfront restaurant to new heights, but also provided leadership for the restaurant’s catering division, Harborside Catering, its function facility, The Phoenix Room and played an integral role in reinventing Ten Center Street. Prior to opening Andiamo Restaurant + Bar, Jim was Executive Chef at Tuscan Kitchen is Salem, NH.
“I have always been passionate about creating a great dining experience for customers. And, I’ve been fortunate throughout my career to have worked with and for some great people in the restaurant and food industry,” Jim stated. “I wanted my next venture to be something that was truly my own — an Italian and Mediterranean influenced restaurant that brings the art of fine dining to a smaller and more intimate restaurant setting.” He added, “And I would not have picked anywhere else to open — Newburyport’s home to me.”
